Yachats Coast

Overview Oregon by Kayak is based in the delightful coastal town of Yachats. The shallow bay in Yachats is an ideal place to safely practice basic sea kayak paddling/boat handling skills. Oregon by Kayak offers skills instruction.  Oregon by Kayak offers day trips in a variety of coastal locations from Lincoln City south to Reedsport. Along this substantial stretch of coast lie many pristine bays, estuaries and lakes which are ideally suited to exploration by sea kayak. The wildlife that may be encountered includes seals, osprey, kingfisher, and maybe river otter.

Guides The outfitter’s lead guide is Andy Small. Andy has been kayaking for 24 years. He began whitewater kayaking in northern California as one of the first students at the Otter Bar Lodge Kayak School. He went on to paddle rivers in Maine, Colorado, Arizona, Scotland, and New Zealand. Andy has 14 years of sea kayaking experience, including tours in the U.S.A., New Zealand, Belize, Mexico, and Canada. He holds a Four Star certification from the British Canoe Union, is a registered guide with the Oregon State Marine Board, and is trained as a Wilderness First Responder.
